Big Goals Require Big Motivation

Dan shared a link on my discussion forum this morning about a guy who was motivated enough to make the impossible happen:

Man raises $10,000 online for a dream date

I loved this part towards the end:

Stepping up, asking for what you want in life, and then working to get exactly that is probably the most fulfilling single thing you can do in your life. If you're holding back, I suggest you think to yourself, "If Zach Slow can make a crazy website to go out with his favorite emcee, then I can surely do whatever the hell I want! After all, it would be impossible to look crazier than him!"

I'm wondering if this guy has read Think and Grow Rich πŸ˜‰ . That's what I was reminded of when I read his comments. I always think that you could slant that title to work with anything you want to achieve in life: Think and Grow Skinny, or Think and Grow Happy, or Think and Grow _____ (fill in the blank).

A lot of people see the title and get the impression that it's only about becoming financially wealthy. While it's true that the book was written specifically for entrepreneurs, the things that can be learned from Napoleon Hill's classic are principles that can be used to achieve any type of goal.

If you havent yet read Think and Grow Rich, you are welcome to download a free copy from my website. I made it available there after reading it myself, and deciding that this was a book that everyone should have the opportunity to read.

The free copy that I linked to above is in PDF Format. I would recommend that you print it out, put it in a binder, and read this with a highlighter and/or an ink pen in hand. It's that good πŸ˜‰

  1. Boy, today must be "inspiration day!" Did you happen to catch the Oprah show? I don't always watch but today I happened to turn it on and she had guests that have struggled through major difficulties and overcame them. Melissa Etheridge was one of the guests, talking about her battle with breast cancer. As I sat there watching these incredible people, I was mentally smacking myself upside the head. Here I am whining about small stuff and getting frustrated by my puny challenges, when they had to fight for their lives. Melissa sang such an incredible song from her new album, called, "I Run for Life." Oh boy, I was boo-hooing all over the place. Very inspiring though. πŸ™‚

  2. I missed that one, but I bet it was great!

Stories like that can really inspire and motivate if we are open to it. I think that the key to great success is wanting something so bad that it seems like the only option. Waking up every day and working towards it. Living to reach that goal.

  3. Yea, no one can look crazier than him...did you watch the videos on his website? The Jelly Doghnut is my favorite! Just shows how being original can get you noticed! (Lady Sov got a lot of great press out of this too!)

  4. Lynn,

This post is a good example of some of the well thought out and yes, inspirational, kind of stuff that helps me keep my goals and business on track.

You do a great job. In fact, you and Alice Seba are two of my favorites and I keep your posts (via RSS) "above the fold" on MyYahoo! screen.

So, time to gush a little and say, "Thanks, and keep up the good work." Someone on the other end appreciates your efforts.

  5. Hi Lynn,

I was recently very inspired by the title of this article:

    "Double amputee scales Mt Everest"

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4774989.stm

No excuses for not achieving my goals, overcoming obstacles or losing motivation.

  6. Thank you, Robert πŸ˜€

I'm off to check out the link, Herman! Thanks πŸ˜‰
