Where To Start Back When You’re Totally Off Track, Stuck or Overwhelmed

Favorite Napoleon Hill Quote

Maybe you feel stuck & unsure what to do first... or how to prioritize your tasks so you can reach your goals.

Maybe you're not sure where to start - or you got derailed somewhere along the way, and now you're not sure where to start back.

It happens to all of us...

You have good intentions and great ideas and dive headfirst into an exciting project, and the next thing you know you find yourself staring at your monitor and your 73 open tabs with your eyes glazed over.

Your brain feels like mush, your idea lists & task lists are overwhelming to even look at, and you find yourself totally STALLED.

Doing nothing is not the answer.

You have to take action to see results.

My advice: just show up, do something, do ANYthing. That's the best way to get the ball rolling so you can regain your momentum.

Start with the smallest, easiest task and get it done so you can mark it off the list. That sense of accomplishment will feel great and is a good first step!

If you're not sure where to start at all, ask yourself this:

What do you MOST want to accomplish in your life?

Think on that for a minute, journal it out even if you need to, then map out a plan to MAKE THAT HAPPEN. Figure out the steps it will take, then break those steps down into micro-tasks.

What can you do TODAY toward that goal?

How can you plan your week out with steps and tasks that move toward that goal?

Get specific! Act on the micro-level while staying focused on the big picture: that end goal and ultimate result. You want to THINK big, but ACT small - meaning: focus on the little steps it takes.

There are so many great quotes out there on this, but it boils down to two things:

1. You naturally move toward what you think about most.

2. Success is a result of your daily choices & actions.

We've been talking about this in Brainstorming Hour, which is a fun Q&A call I do twice a week with live examples and a behind-the-scenes look into my own niche business. I've been in business almost 22 years now by the way, and working in this travel/food/weight loss niche for more than 7 years.

Even with more than two decades of experience in business and working online, I find myself derailed sometimes too - just like everyone else. Or stuck, overwhelmed, unfocused, behind, doubting this or that, etc.

So I'm talking from personal experience here. I often share details of those experiences in my weekly brainstorming sessions to give real world examples of overcoming the challenges of running your own business.

We discuss a lot of other things too, like:

- How to funnel buyers out of facebook (for free!)
- Instagram call-to-action examples that WORK
- How you should start your day to get and stay in profit
- How to reach people that are NOT searching for your offer - but will buy/pay!

... just as a few examples from recent brainstorming sessions.

Anyway, I was feeling stuck this weekend myself so I thought I would reach out and send you a quick note to inspire you to TAKE ACTION on what you most want out of life - and specifically, your online business.

One of my big "self talk" things is: just start, do SOMEthing. I had to go through those motions myself today. The great thing is that it gets you on a roll!

Another thing we discussed this week in Brainstorming Hour was the concept of keeping a Time Log for self-accountability. It's something I've been doing for years, because it WORKS for me!

This post has a breakdown of my Time Log Exercise plus Micro-Tasking and working in Time Blocks to increase your productivity:

I know I haven't written a new post here in awhile, so I'm taking my own advice: just start somewhere. And that somewhere was in writing you this note. 🙂 *cheers*

Best,

p.s. Read this too: Six Months To Live - I just read it again myself this week, twice!
