Affiliate Marketing Interview

IM Success Radio

You've heard of "Bob the Teacher", right? His name is Bob Jenkins and he is one sharp fellow. I had the pleasure of meeting him in person recently when I attended Willie Crawford's birthday bash & seminar in Orlando. Here is a photo taken the night we all arrived, and as you can see (far left) Bob and I met up and started brainstorming straight away:

Bob invited me on to his IM Success Radio show at BTR this week, where we discussed my personal Affiliate Marketing strategies. You can use the player above to listen in to the replay of that episode.

Here's the cool thing, though: You can also share this player on your blog or website, or just share a link to Bob's show, and earn commissions. Bob uses the Butterfly Marketing script on all of his sites so as soon as you sign up to check out the cool free membership stuff, you'll also get a referral link to share it with others.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Affiliate Marketing interview. Leave a comment below, and feel free to post your questions there as well. Enjoy!

It's a great interview - I was listening to it last night, but, didn't get a chance to finish - as the family-TV-watching was starting! LOL Gonna finish listening as I work this morning! πŸ˜‰

  2. Thanks for that Lynn. I am new at this and I learned a lot from that interview. On the topic of reports...do you know of a service that offers reports which affiliate marketers can use to build a list or are the reports produced by the affiliate marketers themselves? Also when you find a product that you want to promote what program do you use or recommend to build your affiliate site.

This was my first reply so not sure if it was ok to ask questions here.

    Thanks

    • You can create your own reports, or you can use PLR (content with private label rights) - or even outsource the writing, hire a ghostwriter, etc. There are lots of options if you get creative.

People use different things to create websites. I usually either use WordPress, or I use Dreamweaver to create a more traditional type site. But that's just me, there are definitely plenty of options there as well.

Lynn how do you maintain the SEO on 60 affiliate products web sites? Don't you have to write blog posts and write articles to keep them high enough in Goggle to get traffic? If not what do you do? If yes how do you manage it all?

    • I didnt say that I had 60 affiliate sites. I said that in any given month I am promoting 30-60 different affiliate programs. Many of my affiliate sites feature multiple merchants/products.

When it comes to SEO, you do need new relevant links from time to time, so I just keep my eyes peeled for those opportunities at all times. But I set aside "maintenance time" each month to evaluate my sites needs and to do the tasks. I also outsource.

But for the most part, a well optimized page with a few quality inbound links (a few being relative) will rank well for quite some time. I just make sure it gets a new quality link pointing to it now and then.

  11. Great interview, Lynn. This is a new interest for me and this interview has made me want to learn alot more!

  12. Great interview Lynn and Bob. I'm in the beginning stages of starting a case study for a specific product and heard you mention it's good to do them in 3 parts. This is a product that I'll be using for 30 days so would you recommend an intro post about the product and then do a recap every 10 days and then a final post after that? Does that sound good? I was actually thinking of posting every day for the 30 days but that might be a bit much. Hmmmm! Decisions, decisions.

    • I love a good series like that - similar to what Darren Rowse is doing with the "31 days to a better blog" series at the moment. Doing a month-long series or case study is a great way to pick up new readers and really get them involved!

  13. Very informative interview Lyn, so glad I found you doing my research into internet marketing, will eventually decide my route and when successful at it, your name I will shout from the rooftops.

  14. Is this downloadable?

  15. Dennis Edell,
Try using the Real Player. I guess it can handle that

  16. Wow 30-60 affiliate programs!? I need to step up my game and start marketing more offers! I Didn't know I was doing a sub par job. But now that I know I will grow my affiliate product base. Thanks for this interview πŸ™‚

  17. Lynn, I think a disclaimer for newbies would be good. I assume you didn't start your first week with 30-60 programs going at once, did you?

  18. Of course not, Dennis - I started out with just a few and it has grown over the years. That said, I do have multiple programs/products per niche site. I usually try to have at least 3 programs for any given site - one primary program I promote and at least 2 others (in case one program shuts down or the main product gets pulled, etc).

I'm always looking for new products to add to existing sites, and new products to create cool new sites around πŸ™‚

    • I get that for sure. It's just that thinking of the beginner as I do (my primary audience) I foresee people seeing this and (similar to social networking sites and direct sales/MLM companies) joining the first 1265 programs they see - not being able to work any properly - giving up 2 months later stating "it don't work".

I'm sure you know what I mean. πŸ™‚

Thank you for the interview. Affiliate marketing has been a struggle for me an I am still working to make it profitable.
