Pics & Notes from the NAMS-3 Workshop

I had a fabulous time at the Niche Affiliate Marketing workshop in Atlanta this past weekend, and wanted to share a few pictures with you to give you a good idea just how fun & productive the weekend truly was.

Above is a shot of me with Nicole Dean and Willie Crawford right before we presented in the Advanced session on Hiring & Working With Affiliate Managers.

Nicole & Willie are two of the best Affiliate Managers I know. I've had a chance to work with them both personally as an Affiliate. They have tons of experience managing affiliate programs and working with affiliate managers & JV partners.

We discussed the pros & cons in great detail, and I really took a lot away from that session! The biggest point being about outsourcing: Know who you need to hire, and why, as it relates specifically to your business model.

I had the opportunity to work alongside Jeff Herring on Day One of the 3-day workshop, following my presentation on Getting Started with Affiliate Marketing. Jeff and I taught together on market research, niche selection & creating content.

I put together a password-protected post with PDF Tutorials for attendees to download, to help them work on their sites after the event. The password is "nams3". I just didn't want Google indexing the PDF files. πŸ˜‰

My daughter Annie attended the NAMS Workshop with me this time, which was great fun! She really enjoyed getting to meet everyone in person that she see's cross my computer screens every day here in the home office. πŸ˜€

She got very involved, and came home to get straight to work on her affiliate site - and is even tweeting now! You'll find her on Twitter as @anniemgarrett

Our own Magic Myke was kind enough to design her a custom blog header while we were at the event. When they weren't playing Scrabble on the iPhone at least πŸ˜‰

It means a lot to me to have my children so involved in my business after all these years. I have been working from home for 13+ years now, and the fact that they both took an interest has made this last year truly amazing. My son, Zack 18yo, is the developer behind a new site I am releasing in beta: http://www.GeekTrax.com

Annie actually spent most of her time with her new surrogate parents (lol) Aileen Bennett and Kevin Riley. Three peas in a pod, no doubt! LOL

I had a fabulous lunch (and much-needed break) with the gals on Sunday. Left to right is Tishia Lee, Danielle Johnson, Angie Newton, my daughter and then me. Lots of laughs at this table - I'm shocked we didn't get kicked out, or at least get a round of applause from the whole restaurant when we finally left! πŸ˜›

This picture just cracks me up -LOL. That's me, with Bob "the Teacher" Jenkins. He was a huge hit at the workshop with his presentation on Using Social Media to Drive Traffic - everyone loved it!!

Traci Knoppe and I on my HP Netbook (I love that thing!!) checking out the tweets & photos that were being posted live at the event. Traci runs Your Web Tech Team and is the developer behind the Beginner to Blogger training program.

On Day 2 of the NAMS event, I had the pleasure of presenting alongside Sid Hale and Kevin Riley. Sid is the developer behind RAP (Rapid Action Profits) and Kevin is a total whiz at info-product development. In the photo above, I had just informed them both that there was only one microphone. πŸ˜€

I really enjoyed Sid's presentation just before that, where he discussed the power of creating and working with a team of affiliates in your online business. He made some awesome points about leverage and scalability.

After his presentation, the three of us lead a workshop on creating info-products and recruiting affiliates. Definitely a highlight for me over the weekend!

Michael Schultz took this photo - I got busted sitting in the back of the room texting & tweeting. Ha! Also in the photo is Chris Cobb, Maritza Parrah, Kathleen Gage and Jeff Herring. All working away from the back of the room!

Me with Kimmoy (left) and Andrea (right) - both Elite Members of SSWT.

There were over 70 Elite Members at the NAMS event, so I held a private reception for our group on Saturday night. We had a nice food spread and a great time. In the photo above, my daughter and Aileen Bennett were doing the drawing for the book giveaways - and cracking everyone up! LOL They're a mess πŸ˜‰

During the Elite Reception, Deb Gallardo sang an Internet Marketing parody for us - great entertainment and lots of laughs!

I also finally unboxed my Macbook Pro live at the Elite Reception. In the photo above you can see I'm having serious second thoughts. Kidding! πŸ™‚

This is Mark Mason, who was kind enough to video the Macbook Pro Unboxing.

Left to right is "Toronto Carol", Angie Newton, me and Julie Anna Schultz (mom to the whiz kid, Magic Myke). All fabulous ladies that I consider great friends!

Scott aka @FatLossQuickie kept the whole crowd in stitches throughout the weekend with his "quickie talk". You'll remember that Scott recently did a guest series here on ClickNewz with some fabulous posts on "a healthy approach to internet marketing". If you missed those, they're well worth a read!

Another shot with Nicole Dean and Willie Crawford. Two of the most real, down to earth, friendly - and brilliant! - online marketers that I know.

And last but not least, Kurt Scholle - the man responsible for all the great photos. He did a fabulous job catching some of the best moments of the NAMS event. You can find the rest of his pictures on his Flickr account. Thank you, Kurt!

I wish I could share every single moment, conversation and aha! that I had over the weekend but there's just no way to capture it all - except to be there. I do hope you'll consider joining us at a future event!

The next NAMS will be held in August 2010. I'll let you know as soon as I have sign-up information, or you can keep an eye on the website here:

  1. Hey lynn - great recap! Loved meeting everybody from the Elite forum. You had so many of us there, it should indeed be renamed ClickNewz South.

I also loved how NAMS was organized, and being able to teach a couple of the sessions with both tactical and inspirational lessons for the group.

Have an awesome trip to Australia! We'll miss you at the mini-nams reunion at SIMPLE at the end of the month.

    Bob

p.s. NAMS was also awesome for my brother, as you've seen. Can't wait to see how far he gets by August.

    • It was super-cool meeting your brother, Bob - and I really enjoyed hanging out with you. Your presentations got AWESOME feedback. Hope you'll be back in August! πŸ˜€

I'll definitely miss being at SIMPLE. I'm sure it's going to be incredible with you behind it!

  2. Obviously, I'm never where you are. Or any of the other speakers. I'm going to bring my own private photographer next time just to make sure I get in pictures with my favorite folks like you - and a new favorite folk - Bob πŸ™‚

The funniest thing at the workshop was that all the speakers realized they could get a raucous applause when the crowd was sleepy or in a lull just by saying these magic words: Lynn Terry!

And the crowd would burst into applause, room came to life and we moved on.

    Thanks.

    David

    • I can't believe we didn't get a picture together! You were one busy man this weekend πŸ˜‰ Awesome event, as always!

Too funny about the applause - way to make me blush πŸ˜›

I owe Aileen for that one!!

  3. Traci Knoppe says

Love it!!!! I was so busy networking and laughing, I forgot to take many pictures this time. I'm so thankful for everyone else who did. πŸ™‚

Lynn, I have to say, not only are you an amazing affiliate and internet marketer: but clearly you are equally as great of a mom. Annie is a true gem and I just loved her!

I had dinner with her Sunday nite and she was so much fun! She gave me the biggest hug Monday before I left. Just made my weekend.

Can't wait for NAMS4 in August!

  4. What a great time we had! Thanks for everything! One of the best parts of this last weekend was being able to mingle with all the instructors especially you! It was so fun to spend so much time with you and Annie. What a great daughter you have!

Kurt took such great pictures. I didn't take many because I knew he was get great pictures!

I sure hope scheduling works out and I can be there in August!

    • That's nice of you to say, Danielle. I'm glad you liked them. A number of people have posted some fine pictures from NAMS.

I get a kick out of seeing my work show up on blogs and websites. This post is some kind of record!

I am humbly proud to be a part of it and a participant in NAMS-3. I had a chance to meet many great people and learn awesome info.

      And Lynn Terry, you ROCK!

      -- Kurt

    • I agree with Danielle - you took awesome pics, Kurt!

      Thank you πŸ˜€

I really enjoyed hanging out with you guys. It's funny because the weekend seemed so long and so short all at the same time. I was completely wiped out by the end, but still didn't feel like I got to spend enough time there! πŸ˜‰

  5. By the way folks - just 36 hours after it ended and we just got our 40th registrant for NAMS4 - here's the thing...no sales page and don't even have the date worked out yet! I'll have the page up this week.

Hi Lynn - it was so wonderful to meet you in person, and meet so many members of the Elite Forum, and the whole NAMS event was incredible.
I enjoyed every minute of it.
I can't attend in August because I'm going to a Wedding - but I'll certainly be going to the Niche Affiliate Marketing event a year from now - though that seems so far away!!
    Diana

    • We'll definitely miss you in August, Diana! I believe the dates are still being set, so I'll let you know as soon as I know - but at the very least I will look forward to seeing you again in January πŸ™‚

  7. Lisa Marie Mary says

Fabulous recap, Lynn - sounds like NAMS3 topped NAMS2 - just like NAMS2 topped NAMS1! Man, oh man, is FOUR ever gonna be great!! The pics are amazing and I'm so glad that Annie had such a great time, that is so cool!!

  8. Diana Walker says

    Hi Lynn and Everyone

Here are 75 photos, and I still have more to upload:

What a great recap and photos. I am still recovering from the weekend, and trying to move all of this information from my mind to my action list. It was great catching up with everyone and meeting new folks as well. I had some really big AHA moments this time. Didn't get to hang out with Lynn too much, but she's a rockstar now, and that's pretty cool to watch, especially since it hasn't changed her a bit. As for Annie, she's a crackup. She is certainly her mothers daughter, and I won't be surprised to see big things from her soon.

    • We really didn't get much time together, and I barely got to see Kelly at all *pout* - but I'm so glad she joined us for the reception! And thank you for the nice gift πŸ˜€

Annie came home and got straight to work. Yesterday she wrote a keyword-optimized blog post with a call-to-action. I'm SO proud!

      • Annemarie O'Bea says

That is so awesome Lynn. If they had any idea of what a gift you're giving them.... amazing! When she's hiring out for squidoo sites....I need some help. πŸ™‚

Talk to you soon. Look for an email regarding my AHA moment.

I just thought I'm in that event. Just downloaded all your 4 pdf guide. Hope all 4 give me some nice time. By the way, you look stunning with your beautiful smile. πŸ™‚

  14. Scott Tousignant says

NAMS 3 was like no other event I've attended. Incredible attendees and caring speakers.

It was so awesome to connect with so many members from Lynn's Elite Community as well as all the amazing Fat Loss Quickie members.

There are so many people that I thought were already totally awesome, but meeting them in person made me quickly realize that they ROCK beyond belief.

I'm incredibly grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing people.

The feedback, constructive criticisms, and words of encouragement were absolutely priceless and will play a big role in bringing my business to the next level and beyond this year.

Thanks to all of you who touched my life during NAMS 3.

    Lynn... you absolutely ROCK!

    Scott Tousignant

PS It was way too funny to hear all the quickie talk during NAMS. I guess that's a good sign that the quickie brand is going to be easy to spread πŸ˜‰

    • It was a real pleasure to finally meet you in person, Scott. You made such a difference to me last year in that one phone call, and I really appreciate you for that. So glad you were there, and hoping we'll see you again in August!

  15. Lynn it was so awesome to meet you in person! Lunch was a hoot and I'm really surprised they didn't kick us out! LOL I will be joining your Elite Forum as soon as Angie sends me her affiliate link πŸ™‚ Can't wait until we get to hang out in person again!

    • I'm so glad you're joining us at SSWT - you'll love it! I'm glad we finally got to meet. I really enjoyed getting to know you. Who knew we had so much in common! πŸ˜€

  16. Susanne Myers says

Lynn, it was great to meet you in person again and I loved your presentation in the Advanced Room with Nicole and Willie. Great to hear the super affilite's voice in addition to that of the affiliate managers. Your statement that you want to hear from the site owner, not an affiliate manager or VA really hit home and I'll be making an effort to connect with my own super affiliates on a more personal level. - Thank you.

Loved meeting your daughter as well. She's sharp. Hope mine will grow into the family business the way both your kids did.

    • I got a lot out of that session as well. A LOT.

You would think my children would have gotten involved a lot sooner, given how long I've been working from home around them. I'm just glad it finally kicked in - they are both loving it!

I enjoyed meeting your husband, and the time you and I got to spend together - short as it was. I look forward to seeing you again soon!

  17. Lynn (& fellow nams-sters),

Awesome post & I love all the pictures! I'm doing a big planning & delegating day today to start implementing some great ideas from all the incredible NAMS attendees, fellow speakers and energy... and then I'm really looking forward to going into your forum because I became a member at NAMS! Yipppee! πŸ˜€

    Love, Maritza

    • Awesome Maritza - I so look forward to seeing you there! You'll love the group... and they are going to LOVE you! πŸ˜‰

Let's try to connect next week sometime. I would love to look at ways we might be able to work together. You're a gem!

    • Traci Knoppe says

Yay! Welcome to SSWT Maritza! πŸ™‚

  18. Oh my gosh, what a great re-cap and I love the pic me, you, and Andrea πŸ™‚ I was actually scared to just hop on over and ask to take a picture so I have to thank Andrea for giving me the extra nudge. It was a pleasure meeting you Lynn and everyone else too. I can't believe I found a few people to work with me in my niche! LOL

I'm really glad that I attended NAMS3 and the session you taught with Sid Hale and Kevin Riley was THE lightbulb moment for me. I'll be posting my re-cap later this week, can't wait to share...

    • Be sure to send me a link - I look forward to reading it!

It was great to meet you in person, and I really enjoyed listening in to the blog review by Denise Wakeman during her session. I was sitting right behind you following along πŸ™‚

    • Please send me a link too! I have a blog post where I'm trying to link to all the NAMS 3 blog posts.

BTW, You, Andrea and Lynn loo MAAAAHHHVELOUS!

  19. Dan Reinhold says

    Arrrrgh!

    I can't believe I came to NAMS3 without a camera!

Could've been worse, though. I could've been Dan Morris!! Lucky for him there was a Fig Leaves R Us nearby. πŸ˜€

Truth be told, I had a song idea of my own, but I walked in during Deb's performance and I could tell she WORKED for that spotlight!

After discovering the two photos of us together, Lynn, I have to say I'm very glad they're not here! I may have to bite the bullet and post one on my blog, like it or not.

Your daughter was so incredibly at ease there. She's be taking the world by storm in no time, I'm sure.

Everyone please give a "Hurray!" to our own @AngieNewton for her courageous defeat of her videophobia at #NAMS3. AweSOME, Angie!!

How about we let Angie borrow Lynn's new thing and I'll end this comment with...

    ..."Angie Newton"!!!

You all know what to do now. πŸ™‚

    Dan

P.S. One quick P.S. here: If anything funny ever happened to you at any NAMS, join in the comments here: http://wahumor.com/1031/surviving-my-nams-internet-marketing-training/

And never, never tell Nicole Dean your room number. 8 o

    • LOL Dan - your comment is a great recap all on it's own! πŸ˜€ haha

There were tons of funny moments at NAMS. Can't wait to read your post!

It was really great to finally meet you in person after all these years. I'm glad you came down for the event, and hope you'll consider attending again in August. πŸ™‚

Off to see if I can find those 2 pics, because I never saw those...

    • Oh gosh Dan, thank you so much! It was a big breakthrough and I feel really great about it.

Lynn's right, that comment is a great recap. Fun times! Hope to see you in August.

  20. Deb Gallardo says

I can't believe how big my mouth is in that photo of me singing. And I look so angry!

    LOL

That must have been at the end of the song where I was singing, "I'm gonna get up, get out and do it!"

I'm thinking of doing a powerpoint-type video of the song with graphics, while I'm singing in the background. Will let you all know when it's ready. (I'm opening in a show this weekend and it runs next weekend as well, so it won't be until AT LEAST next week.)

    Deb

P.S. - I had a soap opera day Monday, starting when I boarded the airport shuttle bus. The diesel fumes made me sick and security had to call the paramedics for me. It did get me a wheelchair ride all the way to my boarding area, so it worked out.

THEN (I told you it was a soap opera day) that night after rehearsal, I fell down a short flight of steps and really hurt myself. My whole left side is bruised, almost from head to toe, and I may have cracked a rib. Moving is dicey sometimes, even with all the damage on one side of the body. But I am improving little by little. That and getting a lot of rest - 11 hours Monday night!

  21. Great pictures! I had such a blast and really learned a ton. Already looking forward to the next one. See everyone in August but hope to see you and Annie sooner than that of course.

Thanks for all you do, Lynn! You really have made a huge difference in my life.

    • I hope so too - I'm thinking we'll have to pick a weekend for you to come down and stay over at my place. We could work on my travel wall and just hang out πŸ˜€

  22. Linda Barnby says

    Lynn,
I met so many folks at NAMS who raved about you! So glad I got to meet you. Just joined the forum and I look forward to learning and sharing with you!

    • I'm so glad you joined us there - it's a great way to keep up with each other until we meet up again in August πŸ™‚ Great to meet you! I look forward to getting to know you even more, and working with & alongside you at the forum.

  23. Jeff Herring says

Great recap and set of pics Lynn. Enjoyed working with you again, and it's so cool your brought your daughter and she learned and took action.

I gotta tell ya, I feel so privileged to be a part of the NAMS community, which is what I consider it to be...

I've been to and spoken at so many seminars, and NAMS is the only place I get the feeling of close community among everyone. You and I are very blessed to have been there since the beginning, and I'm really excited to see where this journey will lead all of us.

Hats off to David Perdew, all the speakers, and most of all, all the participants.

    Jeff

    • I feel the same way, Jeff - it's an incredible event & community. Definitely one of a kind, and one I am proud to be associated with. Working with you is always a pleasure. I hope we get that opportunity again in August! See you there πŸ˜‰

  24. Nell Taliercio says

Looks like fun times - and lots learned - by all!

    Nell

  25. Wow! What a great recap and all the wonderful comments. NAMS3 was amazing. Not only did the instructors have a great time at the front of the room, we had the opportunity to network with lots of great folks and learn from our peers.

It was great to see you Lynn even if only for moments at a time in the hallway to get hugs.

Fabulous to see all your Elite members in attendance.

  26. Rahman Mehraby says

    Wow!

What an event. I specially like the photos to learn about some great people and see their photos.

Thanks a lot for sharing their photos with us.

  27. I had to laugh at NAMS3 that whenever the presenters wanted to get a cheer from the crowd they would just say "Lynn Terry" and get a ovation from the audience that would last a minute. They did this about at least half a dozen times. It was sort of a running joke through the conference, and It was really funny! This is obviously a tradition that has to be kept up at NAMS4. πŸ™‚

  28. Looks like people are having lots of fun while learning tons at the same time. Good to see you managed to build such a community. Reminds us business is more than just figure, statistics & charts but a lot about connecting, networking & building relationships with people.
