I mentioned in my previous post that I taught 3 workshops and did a mastermind session at the Niche Affiliate Marketing workshop in Atlanta...
I forgot to mention being on
the Keyword Research Panel! Probably because it wasn't actually on my schedule.
The 4 panelists were labeled "TBD" on the event schedule, meaning "to be determined". You can see in the photo who was chosen: (left to right) Dan Morris, Suzanne Myers, Karon Thackston - and then me, Lynn Terry.
I was thrilled to be sitting by Karon on the panel, of course. I mentioned already how much I've learned from her about keyword strategy & SEO copywriting. Hers were some of the very first info products I bought & studied years ago.
(It's a good thing Karon Thackston and Rosalind Gardner don't require royalties on all the money earned from what they teach in their guides! haha) 😛
The session was lead by David Perdew, the event coordinator, and lasted a full hour and a half. It was done live at the event with a full room, and none of us knew the questions in advance. A potential recipe for disaster, no doubt! LOL
It actually turned out to be an incredible session.
All 4 of us approach our market research and keyword strategy in different ways, and we each shared exactly how we did it and why. I learned some very interesting things from Karon, particularly about various keyword research tools, and picked up some awesome research tips from the entire panel.

I mentioned in my comment yesterday that I downloaded it over the weekend. For those that didn't see that comment, I highly recommend it!
You can sometimes get a lot more insight into the "hows" and "whys" when you listen in on a casual conversation. I love hearing the reasoning behind the method, as opposed to just the instruction. (But, I'm weird like that.)
This was the first chance I had to watch the video and I was in the room at the conference. Me and my serious face on the video in the blue shirt towards the end LOL
Anyway the thing that was said that I have had success with is where Lynn, you say that the big marketers say they aren't going to touch those low volume long tail phrases. Those are my favorite!
The other thing I learned about while at the live session which isn't on the video although I do think part of what Dan was saying on the video has to do with it is the Wonder Wheel. I'm going to be checking that out for sure.

I agree with you both. I picked up some great things myself, the kind that only come out in a candid unscripted conversation like that one. I plan on listening to the audio recording too. I can't believe it was 90 full minutes - it flew by!!
It was the kind of 'juicy' conference where sharing is real and so very knowledgeable. I signed up for Jan 2011 immediately upon getting home. It was great to meet Angie face to face and enjoy her ebullient spirit, and Lynn, your professionalism yet down to earth delivery was just SO appreciated. I have been to many of these internet things, and this is the real deal. This was an excellent segment, and I am going to buy the whole NAMS4 flash drive (I stayed with a friend in ATL & only those who stay in the hotel get it for free - that's fair). Thanks so much for changing ny life for the better.

What a great writeup Lynn. I didn't even realize we were up there for 90 minutes. I'm going to listen to the audio as well. I remember all three of you making some really good points. I wish I had been able to take notes up there.

Lynn - I think your book title could be "I Don't Do It That Way" . It is SO refreshing to see your success and to hear you say, "I don't know. I don't do it that way." I thought of that during the Elite call on Thursday last week. You do things that have worked for you, share them, explore new things with a view balanced with experience, and then share those. Thanks for that.
