This photo was taken at the August NAMS event just a few months ago, and is a great visual of the reason I won't be speaking at the next NAMS.
February 2012 will be the 7th NAMS event, which stands for "Niche Affiliate Marketing Workshop" and happens twice a year in Atlanta. I have presented and taught at every one of the first six events.
It's an awesome event, and one where I feel I can truly make a difference by working hands-on workshop style with people that want to start a successful online business in affiliate marketing...
I'm SO passionate about it that I usually end up working myself to death, both leading up to the event and at the event. In August for example, I did four sessions in three days. One of those was a 2-hour presentation with over 60 slides.
And let me just say - I am NOT a speaker. LOL. I'm actually an introvert. So for me to go all out like this for an event is a big deal, and should give you a clue just how passionate I am about NAMS. π
I come home completely wiped out and mentally exhausted, and always feel disappointed that I didn't get to spend as much one-on-one time with people there that I would have liked.
That's why I decided not to speak in February.
I will still be attending of course. I wouldn't miss a NAMS event for the world! It is my absolute favorite event on the grid. Not only for the quality of content, but for the quality of people it attracts. It's a great opportunity twice a year to catch up with old friends, hang out with my private group, and meet awesome new people.
And that's exactly what I'm going to do this time. I've stepped down from the speaker role so that I can spend more time with all the people I can't wait to see, and also attend some of the advanced sessions myself - which I've never had the chance to do (without working on my next presentation in the back of the room at the same time, at least - LOL).
It will be a much-needed break, and I'm very much looking forward to it!
If you're interested in attending the event, there's a way to get your ticket super cheap. Public tickets are $497, but NAMS Members get in for only $97. You'll want to use the coupon code "MYNAMS85" to sign up as a member - that gets you in at 85% off the public membership rate. Then, once inside, use the coupon code "lifechanging" to get the event ticket for $400 off (only $97).
You really can't beat it for a jam-packed 3-day event with some of the coolest people in the industry. It's one event where you will never feel alone or lost - it's hands down the friendliest and most social group of like-minded online business owners I have ever met.
I would love to see YOU there too. π
UPDATE β‘ Thereβs a new option to sign up for the NAMS Affiliate Marketing Workshop in February! See the details at: www.nicheaffiliatemarketingsystems.com < - Check it out π Much easier, and much cheaperβ¦
Best,
p.s. Join up now while the coupon codes are still good. They change all the time! Remember, use the coupon code "MYNAMS85" to become a member - that gets you in at 85% off the public membership rate. Then, once inside, use the coupon code "lifechanging" to get the event ticket for $400 off (only $97).
I'll miss you speaking at NAMS but I totally understand. It will be nice to just be able to take a break and brainstorm when you want and sit in on some of the great sessions yourself.
See you in Feb.
It really will. I am so looking forward to it. That and having more time to just hang out & brainstorm with everyone there! See you soon. π
I really want to try and make it this year! Its been a long time since I've attended a conference π
It would be SO great to see you there Chrissie!! Please say you're coming... Keep me posted. π
In August I fully intend to go to Florida, pack Chrissie in my suitcase and make her come to NAMS!
I'd do the same in February, but I have to skip that one myself. I was all set for the January dates, but the February dates are right on my youngest son's birthday.
I didn't realize you weren't attending in February - you'll definitely be missed! See you in August. π
I was a little shocked when I read the title of this entry! So glad to hear you're still planning to attend, even though you won't be teaching. π
I could never miss it. π Look forward to seeing you there!
Cindy, YOU were shocked? Imagine being pictured as the person who ruined NAMS for Lynn!!
This really a perfect picture of the heart and soul of NAMS. Lynn sat down with me poolside for a quick review of a business plan I was working on. Since she does not do private consulting (and I probably could not afford it if she did), this wwas priceless.
Reminded of my first NAMES (NAMS 2) when Joe Marsh patiently sketched out and explained in detail how an autoresponder and sales funnel worked together, during a coffee break. And he wasn't even "paid staff" back then.
(Oh yeah, none of them are.)
Will be fun to chill with you, Lynn! Thanks for the explanation.
haha Anita - you didn't ruin it for me, I just want MORE time like that π I so enjoyed it!
I have some questions about the NAMS event. Firstly, where will it be taking place. Secondly, what exactly is being done there? Do they give tutorials, share tips, or something? I have been hearing NAMS for some time now but I really don't know much about it.
It's in Atlanta on February 10-12. It's a 3-day event with presentations and workshops, so you'll come prepared to take action on what you learn - on the spot. π
http://www.nicheaffiliatemarketingsystems.com
It's a great environment to learn & work alongside peers and experts. There are multiple tracks for varying levels, so you can choose those that suit your needs best and dig in. Just bring a notepad and a computer so you can take action during the workshop sessions. π
Wow, from the beginning of the post I was afraid you'd changed to anti-NAMS.
I can understand you being completely wiped out. I was too and I wasn't teaching. Much as I liked it, I'm not used to being around people all day like that! Then throw in the 2 hour time difference...
I'm looking forward to seeing you again. π
Peggy
Thank you Peggy. π See you there!!
Lynn - Filling your spot is like trying to have a bake sale to pay down the national debt. Not an easy thing to do. You have given so much to this community and I've love getting to know you as a friend.
Now, having gotten to know you, I also know you won't be sitting on your hands... You love to help people. And when people approach you, you respond. So thanks for that.
And thanks for being a pillar of NAMS.
dp
Thank you David, and thank you for letting me be such a big part of NAMS from the beginning. π I appreciate the break this time around as well. I am very much looking forward to attending a few sessions myself for a change!
Hey girl. For the first time I got to attend 2 advanced sessions in August. I don't do nearly as much as you do (for those that have never seen Lynn in action... she's a powerhouse!) but it was great to take a break and sit in on Paul Evans', Terry Dean's and others sessions. You're gonna love it! See you there.
Thank you Karon - I am so looking forward to that!
See you in a few weeks! π
Hey Lynn,
As much as we all love for you to speak, I don't blame you for wanting to sit this one out. Just sitting back, learning and enjoying can be nice sometimes, plus you can get a little different perspective on things.
We look forward to seeing you and maybe having a little more of a relaxed time with you. See You there!
You're both coming again, right? We'll have to be sure to have a meal together. π I look forward to hearing everything that's been going on since August with you guys. I've loved following the Facebook updates!
Will surely miss your sessions at NAMS, but totally understand your point of view. Personal stress due to an event is never good, but you seem like someone who is a perfectionist and always want to be giving your best shot. I also do similar things, if I am not giving my best or am unable to give my best due to some reason I end up getting depressed. I am a sort of a control freak, wanting everything to go my way. My friends who attended the event last year speak very highly of you and I was looking forward to listening to you this year. But since you are still attending the event we can meet. Looking forward to February 2012.
I bet that we can get Lynn to do another live training webinar as well. She has done several for us in the past and they are always extremely valuable. Lynn's a great teacher. I'm glad this is just a hiatus π
I look forward to meeting you as well. π I am no perfectionist though. LOL. I'm more of a teacher than a speaker, and I do love to teach the topic! I simply want to take a break from preparing & presenting, and take the opportunity to just ENJOY all of the great people there. That's all. π
If it was going to be warm enough, I would suggest we could take a swim, but doubt that will be the case, so looking forward to spending time with a more relaxed you at the firepit (or will it be too cold for that too?)
You can never tell about the weather in February in Atlanta. It could snow, or it could be beautiful. LOL. I'll definitely bring a sweater in case it's warm enough to enjoy the fire pit. π Can't wait to see you there!
Hey Lynn
Glad to hear you're taking a break and will be able to spend more time with us Namsters. Having attended NAMS from the beginning, yours have always been my favorite sessions and I try not to miss them. What I did miss this time around was seeing you out and about and hanging with fellow NAMsters.
I'm sure the decision wasn't easy, but most of us will learn just as much (or more) from you over a little wine than we do in the classroom, and hopefully you'll get the chance to learn a little from us as well!
Cheers!
AM
Yeah, I really missed that too in August. I know one time I was planning to hang out all evening, and I went to take a 15 minute power nap... and didn't wake up until 11pm. LOL. I was just wiped out. π
I'm looking forward to spending more time with all the cool folks in February. π See you there!!
Hi Lynn sorry to hear but I understand it gets very busy at NAMS.. Hopefully you will have some time to sit down and talk more with everyone (me) π now!! See you in February!!
Beth
Let's make it happen, Beth! We'll have to do lunch or dinner one day while we're there. π
UPDATE: There's a new option to sign up for the NAMS Affiliate Marketing Workshop in February! http://mynams.com/amember/go.php?r=160&i=l24 Check it out π Much easier, and much cheaper...
Lynn - we created this option to give people the entire enchilada - NAMS workshop plus 3 months of follow-up in the membership site - to get the most benefit from NAMS.
Because we do things differently - no pitch, 4 different experience tracks, 25-30 instructors, a dozen aides, and 5 rooms - explaining NAMS concept can be a little difficult.
It comes down to this: We focus on YOU and what YOU need. People like you (Lynn) help make sure we stay focused that way. Thanks.
dp
From viewing your videos, I never would have guessed that you are an introvert! I'm on the other end of the scale. I love to speak before groups. Too bad I'm not qualified to speak at NAMS. And, unfortunately, I will not be able to go.
Ahh. I am not shy (anymore), but the true difference between them is that an extrovert gets *energized* by a crowd - and an introvert gets *drained* by a crowd. It doesn't mean your shy or antisocial, simply that you prefer alone time to crowd time. π
That said, I -LOVE- going to NAMS and hanging out with the type of people that attend this particular event. I'm looking forward to more "down time" so I can enjoy everyone on a more personal level without being so drained. π
I really want to try and make it this year!
Do you think you will??
Though it's a good thing for us to see you as a speaker for nams. It will still be a great event where more and more people will have the chance to learn something new.
True, there are TONS of great speakers & teachers at NAMS. I'm looking forward to sitting in on some sessions myself for a change!
It seems it's an interesting event. Unfortunately I can't come on February, but I'll wait the next one. You convinced me that NAMS events are a must!
They are truly great. π The next one should be in August in Atlanta, GA. Hope to see you there!
Hey Lynn! I am new to the affiliate scenario and honestly i had never really heard about the NAMS before. But i think this year i will make it sure that i reach Atlanta in the month of Feb. I am trying hard to learn more about affiliate programs & affiliates as much as i can so that i can make it my full time career in the future.
I know the workshops like this will help me eventually in learning more.. Thank you for sharing.
You will *definitely* get a lot of it, John. π If you haven't signed up yet, the best option is at this page: http://www.nicheaffiliatemarketingsystems.com Hope to see you there!
Does that mean I get to spend more time with you, too? (Fingers and toes crossed....)
Sure, if you're not too busy teaching π LOL
Wow what a shock! I stopped by to say hi, and read this. Hmmm, dern... Well, in my humble opinion I think this is yet another real life example of "Lynn Terry" keeping her priorities in proper order like she, I mean you always do, which is the main thing that made me gravitate to you for IM advice Lynn.
I also was tested on my "Priorities" a week before Christmas when I had the option to choose to work my fanny off to gain a quick easy (potential) $1500 but chose my family instead.
I've not been on here very much lately Lynn because of choosing to spend time with my family. Also, most of the work I've been doing is Local SEO for small local businesses... fell into that by accident, but I'm not complaining.
ANYWAY... I'll be there at NAMS in Feb. I hope to finally meet you there Lynn, I'm bringing my whole family with me (wife and 2 kids). My wonderful, Mostest Amazingest Daughter, Chloe (14), will be attending the classes with me as well. I bought our tickets a couple months ago.
Sorry I've been so quiet lately errrr... ummm... hmmmm.... or should I say "You're Welcome I've been quite..." LOL! π
Thanks Lynn!
Gary Anderson II
I look forward to meeting you & the family!
Lynn - Glad to hear you will still be at NAMS! I look forward to meeting you! I can understand the need for a break from speaking.
See you in February!
I'm glad you're coming π See you there!!
We didn't think we were going to make this NAMS, but turns out we are going to be there - actually clicked through from this post to buy our ticket!
You've always been so helpful at NAMS. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Thank you, Kayla π
I'm so glad you're both coming again!!
Terry,
I am very interested in Affiliate Marketing and for the last 3 years have been researching and stumbling trying to make it work. I would condsider myself a beginner with some knowledge (just enough to be dangerous, not profitable). So I am hoping NAMS will pull everything together for me.
Is there anything we need to do to prepare ahead of time?
I am from the Destin area and saw your post about being at the beach, and follow your blog. Planning to sign up today, look forward to meeting you at NAMS.
Donna
Just bring a notebook and pen, and a laptop - or some way to work. Since it's a workshop you'll want to be able to participate in the hands on sessions. As for any other preparation, just come with an open mind and get ready to learn & implement. That's it π
I look forward to meeting you there!
Hey Donna -
Glad you're coming. The point of NAMS is that we meet you where you are in your experience. If you don't have a website or blog, you'll want to come on Thursday afternoon to Bob Jenkins getting startted add-on workshop.
Looking forward to meeting you.
David
Hi Lynn,
The title of your post shocked me too, but I'm so glad you're still coming to NAMS. Your classes will be missed, but looking forward to your next NAMS webinar. It was great hanging out with you at NAMS6, doing some brainstorming with you, and meeting people from your group. I'm looking forward to doing it again at NAMS7.
See you there,
Regina
Looking forward to it as well, Regina. I so enjoyed getting to know you better in August, and look forward to hanging out again in a few weeks!
Hey Lynn and all...
Just wanted to give you a heads up. The NAMS7 schedule is up at http://nams.ws/schedule - It's looking really good. Pay close attention to the Saturday Mystery Speaker. This guy is awesome and hasn't done a speaking engagement in 7 years, yet everyone will know him and love what he shares...
David
