Monetize Your Blog Archives

Last Fall I gave you some tips on ways you can Make Money With Your Blog Archives. Now there's a new option to add to that list...

Text Link Ads has just announced what they call Post Level TLA's. This is a new option that allows you to sell advertising space on individual blog posts in your archives.

To give you some background, Text-Link-Ads is a company that brokers ad inventory for website owners. Once your website (or blog) gets approved, they will sell ad space to their advertisers and then cut you a check each month for ads sold. All you have to do is install the script on your website once - and then the entire process is automated.

I have had good success selling ad inventory through Text Link Ads on several of my static websites. Since I signed up with them and installed the code, I have consistently received a check every single month.

So when they introduced the Post Level TLA's this week, I took a look. It seemed simple enough - they sent me an email that my blog was pre-approved, I downloaded a plugin for WordPress and activated it... But then I wasnt sure if it worked or what I should do next?

Apparently nothing, because within a few days there were two orders placed for individual blog posts here at ClickNewz! Here is an example of what they look like (and if you click on it, it will take you to the actual post so you can see it live):

It really is that simple - All you have to do is install and activate the plugin they give you, and you start earning money on your archived blog posts!

The ads are non-intrusive, and blend in well with the actual blog post. You will have the opportunity to approve or deny ads from displaying on your site or blog, so you still have complete editorial control.

Obviously this is great for advertisers, too. Instead of purchasing text links in sidebars or footers, you can now purchase text links on relevant content pages. You can target specific blog posts, and there is only ONE ad displayed per post so you get the one and only position on that page. You also get a 150 character description in addition to your 80 character Text Link.

It's a great deal for contextual advertising, and its a great deal for bloggers as well. If you havent already signed up with Text Link Ads, click on the banner below and start monetizing your content! And if you already have an account with them, be sure to check out these new Post Level TLA's...

Best,

This is a pretty important development, and it really demonstrates the way the business of contextual advertising is going to change over the coming months/years.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Lynn!

  2. I'm particularly happy with this latest option from TLA, among others that are available to both content publishers and eBiz owners. Most of us are also in the market to BUY links, and being able to get placement in content areas on relevant pages is a huge PLUS.

I have almost 600 posts on this blog, and many of them got some 'green' in the latest Toolbar Update from Google (ie PageRank). The example I gave above, for instance, has a PR4 and was just written a little over a month ago.

    Yes, good news indeed! 😉

I use TLA on a few sites too and I didn't even realize this was released this week! LOL Very cool, can't wait to try it out.

  4. There were 3 more text links sold today, for a total of 5 now in the first week.

  5. There seems to be a bit of a stir about the plugin they designed for this. Advertisers are buying ad space on "paid postings" and putting up competitor information etc. Could become a large problem for some.

  6. Do you have any links to discussions on this "stir" by any chance? I'd love to hear more about it.
