Free Google+ Guide by Guy Kawasaki

What The Plus!I really enjoyed What The Plus! by Guy Kawasaki. It was one of four new books I ordered from Amazon recently. I discovered though that you can get a free PDF copy online at this link.

I actually love "real books" but one of the perks to this PDF version is that it includes clickable links - very handy! And of course you can put the PDF file on your iPad or your favorite reader/tablet.

From the beginning it was very obvious that the author is an all-out Google+ enthusiast:

"My goals are to help you to derive as much joy and value from Google+ as I do and that we can make Google+ tip." -Guy Kawasaki

He has excellent writing style though, so it made for a very good read. Highly recommended. What I really like about this book is the practical application, and the fact that it is heavily illustrated along with the detailed tips he shares.

If you're not yet using Google+, or using it actively as part of your online business, now is definitely the time to get started.

We discussed this in great detail inside my Social Marketing Results group as an in-depth two hour Bonus Training Session...

The interesting thing about Google+ is that it's not just another social network.

It's actually part of the overall "Google Product" and Google experience. Gmail, Google+, Google Authorship and Plus One all work together for amazing benefits - both for users and marketers alike.

We don't just have personalized search results now, but also personalized social results. As just one example, earlier this week (December 2013) I posted a "word of the day" on Google+ which was "cathexis" with a definition and image. If you're connected with me on Google+, or even if we have a mutual connection (extended social circle), my post may show up in the top 10 results for you when you search "cathexis" on Google.

Imagine the implications of that for a moment...

If that doesn't inspire cathexis for Google+, you aren't thinking hard enough. πŸ˜€

Using Gmail makes it super easy to make new Google+ connections, as Google+ is integrated into Gmail, allowing you to easily connect with people you are communicating with via email - or merchants/brands you receive emails from and may want to connect with socially.

If you listened in to my FREE Fast Content Marketing Webinar recently, you may recall that I shared a particularly useful Google+ tip in that training session. πŸ˜‰

I've been saying for years that Social Media Rank will be bigger than PageRank ever was. "Toolbar Pagerank" was never actual PageRank, nor was it ever a particularly useful tool or metric. Social Rank on the other hand, rewards influencers and serious marketers. It's hard to manipulate engagement.

This gives you a HUGE advantage over those who are trying to game the system for a buck, while you're running a real business that serves a real market.

Read "What The Plus!" via PDF or paperback (links above). And make it a point to get super active on Google+, starting now. The more strategic you are with it, the better results you'll see (and the faster you'll see results!). But at the very least, make it part of your overall networking and social strategy... starting today.

Best,

  1. I\'ve got that book of Guy\'s on my Kindle and I just love it! I love his writing style - even with his longer books, they are easy and fast to read and absorb. And I just love Google+!

  2. I always enjoyed reading ebooks especially anything related to blogging. I am planning to get this book, sooner i will be reviewing about this ebook. His language is lucid and clean it makes everyone to understand what he is looking for. Thanks for making me know about this book.

  3. Thanks Lynn,

I did grab the PDF edition but found it a bit hard to read. So, I spent the $ .99 for the Kindle edition. I have been reading it but I have taken a rest-pit over the holidays to read a Steven King book published last year. "11/22/63 a novel" as my treat to myself this year. A couple of years ago it was my Netflix subscription and last year it was Anne VanDonkersgoed's book "The Year of the Babies".
