Ed Dale and Paul Colligan recently started a weekly podcast titled Internet Marketing This Week. It is a non-promotional candid look at what's going on in our industry each week - complete with Ed's quirky humor and Paul's animated brilliance.
I am excited to announce that I'll also be on the show each week as a co-host, alongside Michelle MacPhearson. Combined, the four of us will bring a variety of views and personal experience to the table.
In last week's episode of IMTW we discussed politics and social media, as well as the "men vs women" gender war in the internet marketing space. Next week we'll discuss what it truly means to serve your market, and what it takes to dominate your niche...
Be sure to subscribe to IMTW and tune in to the weekly podcast, and also follow @IMTW on Twitter. This is the first weekly podcast of its kind, and a much-needed platform for "truth talk" in our industry.
I was flattered to be invited on as a weekly co-host, and am excited about the opportunity to share ideas and discuss solutions with the likes of Ed Dale, Paul Colligan and Michelle MacPhearson.
One of the topics that came up in our first episode was networking, and the opportunities that surface as a result of attending Internet Marketing conferences and events. This came up while we were discussing the "gender war" actually, and specifically talking about peer groups or being a part of a larger Inner Circle or industry network.
There was a point I wanted to add to that conversation. We were talking about how being involved in the "seminar circuit" came with certain privileges, such as lucrative joint venture partners or profitable alliances.
This is one of the reasons I attend so many events and conferences, or host local meet-ups myself. For me it is less about sessions and learning and more about the people and conversations. The point I wanted to add is that you dont have to be a speaker, or be involved in the actual event. Just being there can open up a lot of doors all on its own.
Being co-host on Internet Marketing This Week is a perfect example. I just returned from Ed Dale's event in Orlando Florida - Over the Edge 2 - where Ed invited Michelle and I to join them in co-hosting the show.
I have known Michelle, Ed and Paul each for several years now. But recently meeting Paul at the Atlanta Meet-up, talking to Ed at the StomperNet Live 6 event and Over the Edge 2, and hanging out with Michelle at that event as well - all contributed to 'sealing the deal' on what will undoubtedly become the most popular weekly podcast in the Internet Marketing space.
Meeting people in person is a great way to identify ways you can work together, and solidify deals. While this happens online every single day, what happens at meet-ups and conferences takes joint ventures to a whole new level.
If you cant travel to one of the upcoming Internet Marketing seminars, definitely check meetup.com for local get-togethers in your area. And of course be sure to tune in to Internet Marketing This Week. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
Best,
p.s. Speaking of events, I am traveling again this coming week. This time I'm heading to Vegas to attend the Inner Mastermind event hosted by Brad Fallon. What cool new connections and joint ventures will I come back with this time? Stay tuned to find out 😉
That's Awesome Lynn! Congrats on the show! I look forward to listening in each week. 🙂
Loved the Podcast, Lynn, the inside scoop, light, informative, for those who think beyond the launch!
Listened late last night. The funny thing, knitting was my thing for a while, I managed a yarn shop for a few years, totally hot niche. So much you can do with crochet! Ed's onto something there...!
Best for now,
Mary
Thanks Lynn. I am embarrassed to admit that I did not know you until IMTW, but I'm very happy that you were on! I learn so much with each podcast, webinar, blogpost that I joke it's like getting a mega-MBA, only you never graduate!!
Not into crochet or knitting but have an obsession with Westies...
Looking forward to more insights from you.

Congrats Lynn...I will be listening to the podcast later today. It is so much fun and inspirational to watch and follow your success...
I always look forward to the cool stuff you're going to share here, Lynn, especially concerning your "adventures" at the various seminars & conferences you attend, makes me feel as if i was there myself....:-)
And i'll definitely be listening to IMTW as well, especially since you're now 1 of the co-hosts :-)...
Thoroughly enjoyed your podcast with Ed, Paul, and Michelle.
I've been doing business on the Internet as a web designer then internet marketer since 1994. Personally, I don’t think the lack of female participation at headliner IM conferences is intentional. I can only speak from my own experience, but I don’t have the time to go to these events. I am a mom, wife, business owner already juggling way to much as it is. I don’t have time nor is it important to me at this stage of my life to attend these kinds of events.
What the Internet has brought to me is the opportunity to have a career that is both flexible and rewarding. It’s not important to me whether my efforts are recognized by a group of people I don’t know. My customers and my family are my primary focus. Maybe it will change when my son is off to college…maybe not.
’til then I will Google, Twitter and purchase the training I need from the IM gurus, male or female. I just don’t have the time to do anything more.
Lynn, the podcast thing is going to be great I know. But I wanted to thank you for including the website meetup.com in this post. I hadn't heard of it before and I have now found an internet business group in Brisbane Australia to join. Yey!!
Thank You, Thank You!!
Awesome, Glenys! I love meetup.com, and also use Twitter to find & meet with locals with similar interests. You can also host your own of course!
@SMFW- thats a great attitude! I just posted my thoughts on this topic in a new post at http://www.clicknewz.com/1748/breaking-into-the-boys-club/ - would love to hear your thoughts.
Ed "invited Michelle and I"? Surely you meant "invited Michelle and me" (see, e.g., http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/8/75436/4718/623/657394)
Hi Lynn, very exciting news to see you're podcasting! You were an early supporter of my Niche Podcasting guide so it's cool to see you podcasting with the big hitters in podcasting now!
I'm going home to Costa Rica for Christmas so I've subscribed and I'll be listening to the IMTW podcasts during my flight. So I'm hording the podcasts for now. 🙂
I'm well known for my perfect grammar, Joe 😆
Thank you Alan! Loved your guide, but love letting "the big hitters" handle the technical end of it even more 😉
Its been fun so far - looking forward to kicking off 2009 with a new recording for IMTW this week!
