My Amazon Order For The Week…

For the last 2 years I've been using the Logitech Premium USB Headset 350. Great headset, I've really enjoyed it, but as frequently as I use it for webinars and interviews and such it was bound to break at some point.

That point was just last week. The left side of the headset stopped working. I'm actually deaf in one ear, and as luck would have it... it's my right ear.

I flipped the headset around and got through a couple of webinars, but in the meantime I've been shopping for a new one.

After some browsing at Amazon, I decided on the Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset (Black). The price was right at only $31.99 with free shipping, but I was sold on the comfort features - padded headband and ear pads - and of course it had good consumer reviews.

While I was shopping I also decided to pick up a new book: Upgrade Your Life: The Lifehacker Guide to Working Smarter, Faster, Better by Gina Trapani. It was recommended by Randy Cantrell in this thread on getting & staying organized at my discussion forum.

What about you - what have you ordered at Amazon.com lately?

Best,

p.s. Speaking of Amazon, they are currently celebrating the 10th Anniversary of WishList and holding a 10-week sweepstakes with some pretty cool prizes. Week One is already in progress and the prize is a trip for two to Los Angeles to see the Twilight Saga premiere. Next week the prize is a dream kitchen makeover!

And speaking of headsets, Angie Newton has a Super Saturday Headphone Review & Giveaway going on at her blog. πŸ˜‰

As a participant in the VAClassroom's Virtual Events Specialist class, I too purchased the same brand, Logitech Clear Chat. It was on the recommended list to have as a Virtual Events Specialist. I am happy to see that you purchased it too.

    • Have you had a chance to test yours yet? I've been real happy with other Logitech headsets. I'm most interested to see if this one is actually more comfortable than my last model.

Great timing. I'm in the market for a new headset and glad that you just did the research for me.

I just had the same thing happen to me with my headset where I lost sound in one headphone. It's a Logitech as well and I've been really happy with it. Looking forward to checking out this new model.

    • I wonder what causes that? Both of my children have been borrowing my headset a lot lately so I automatically assumed they must have done something crazy with it (lol). Of course, no complaints after more than 2 years of daily use. πŸ˜‰

  3. I'm afraid my Amazon.com purchases last night weren't related to my home biz at all - a portable potty and reusable placemat for the toddler, a parenting book, and I treated the 15-year-old to $40 of books of her choice.

But thanks for the recommendation - it's going into the special report I'm writing right now about video marketing. I use the Blue Microphones Snowflake USB Microphone myself. It's a professional quality microphone but portable and affordable. (But knowing me, I think I bought it because it's very cute!)

I can see why you would want a headset with a microphone, though. I'm always getting tangled up with my earphone cords.

    • I've heard great things about that mic, Lexi. I considered getting one, but I really like using a full headset for webinars and interviews, as it blocks out background noise for me - which can be very distracting with 2 teens in the house. πŸ™‚

  4. Thanks for your sharing , because i also used that headset, its really very nice

I need a replacement headset and microphone to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking. That looks good value, but ideally I would like a wireless headset (I find it easier to dictate whislt walking πŸ™‚ )

    • Charlie - scroll down a couple of comments and you'll see I just ordered a 2nd (wireless) headset. I'll do a comparative review on them both in the next couple of weeks - once I get them both and have opportunity to compare them. πŸ˜‰

  6. It's been a while since I ordered from Amazon, a few months actually. I have that book on my list plus I have a few other books. I'm sure I'll be heading over to Amazon soon to get reading material for some upcoming vacations.

  7. Hey Lynn,
I looked at the Clear Chat too but I wear my headset sometimes for 8-12 hours a day. So I decided to find one in a store to try out. I ended up ordering the Plantronics .Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset. It's a little more expensive but the headband and ear pieces are padded better.
Now I am terrible to forget I have on my headset (because I wear it so much.) I have to have a wireless headset or I rip them off my head when I jump up from the computer.
I ordered that book just now. It looks great. πŸ™‚

  8. Wow Erica - this one has really great reviews, and USB wireless too! I'm not opposed to doing a test between the two, so I'm going to order this one as well and try them both out. Here's the link for anyone interested in reading the Amazon Reviews & product specs:

Plantronics .Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset

    • I find it's always good to have two anyways. But my work depends on it. I look forward to seeing what you think about the two in a more functional setting. πŸ™‚

      • I just ordered the Plantronics headset from Amazon, along with two more books. Thank you again for the recommendation! I'll publish my comparative review of the headsets in the next couple of weeks, along with the book reviews. πŸ˜‰

  9. Lynne - I am delighted you are doing headset reviews. I have decided I would like a wireless headset with a mic to go on my Christmas list. I think it will be great so that I can finally catch up with the millions of phone calls I should make to friends in Oz, because I don't make the time for it. This way I can Skype and do my ironing/cooking etc at the same time....I hope.
Really looking forward to the reviews...

  10. My headset died on me recently too ...... okay, so I dropped it too many times and the left side stopped working! I had a Logitech as well, so I went to the store to get another Logitech, because I loved my headset.

I believe when your new headset comes we'll have the same headset! LOL One thing I really liked about my previous one though was that it had a split plug at the end, one piece for the mic and one for the speakers.

I could use my headset as just a mic and have the sound come from the monitor speakers if I wanted to be unconnected (like to refill coffee while listening in on a webinar)

With the USB plug in I can't do that. Other than that I love this Logitech headset as much I loved the previous two that I had from them (I'm clumsy..... I break things a lot LOL)

    Hi Lynn.

I use the Clear Chat to record Brass Balls Radio every week, and it's excellent. I recommended it to several friends (Mark Steyn bought one on my rec - woohoo!), but I'm told it isn't "all that" if you use a Mac. Then again, as my Mac-geek friends will generally tell me, having a Mac means you will be richer, thinner, have better hair and whiter teeth, and never get caught in the rain. Or something. Anyway, good headset choice. πŸ˜‰

    Wendy

    • LOL Wendy πŸ˜€ I'm looking forward to trying it out, and also to comparing it to the second headset (wireless) that I ordered. Should make for a fun comparison!

  12. My first headset finally arrived today - the Logitech Clearchat Comfort and it IS comfortable! Sound quality is great. Loving it already πŸ˜€

It took over a week to arrive, which is odd. I usually always use the Free Super Saver Shipping method and have never had Amazon take more than 3-5 days. Maybe they're working on convincing us to upgrade to faster shipping methods -ha!

I look forward to getting the 2nd headset in the next couple of days and comparing them. Really pleased with this one so far!

  13. Lisa Hartwell says

It's not just Logitech - my Plantronics headset lost sound in one ear too recently. Maybe there's some kind of government conspiracy and the left ear isn't broken - the government are just feeding us subliminal messages through it πŸ™‚

I've always used Plantronics so interested to hear how you get on with the Logitech. My main problem with headset mics is popping i.e. on certain words - usually containing a "p" or a "b", the force of the air against the mic causes a popping/banging sound. It can't be eliminated altogether with microphones like these but I wondered if you had ever noticed it as a problem?

    Thanks,

    Lisa

  14. Scott suggested a foam exercise roller(6" X 3'), so ordered one. Tip for those of us who hate to pay full price for books, Amazon usually has used copies of whatever you need and occasionally the bulk of the expense is the shipping and handling, but more likely you 'll save as much as 75% usually in very fine condition

  15. I'm having a slight issue with the new Logitech headset. It's not consistent, but some people hear a background hum and others don't. This is the case both on my live webinars, and via Skype. I'm not sure why it doesn't sound that way for everyone, and if the issue is actually with the headset or not.

I received the Plantronics Wireless USB headset (my 2nd order) so I'm going to test that out today...

  16. bank icons says

I am also going to buy this headset, thanks for your post
