The trip to Boston was wonderful. It was definitely an "experience", to say the least π . Attending my first PubCon was the highlight of course, but I also enjoyed seeing the city.
The Hotel Commonwealth turned out to be a good choice. The rooms were exceptionally nice, the staff was very pleasant and helpful... and best of all, the wireless internet access in our room worked like a charm. Not that we had much time to get online during our week in Boston, but hey - it was nice to have it easy when we did want to hop online!
Chrissie and Teli and I all shared a room at the Commonwealth, and we had a great time hanging out together. We learned very quickly that things were different "up north" π . From getting kicked out of a cab to being yelled at by the waitstaff, it wasn't hard to figure out that "three southern women with luggage" was annoying to the locals - LOL. We definitely left Boston with a lot of great stories!
I stayed on an extra day to visit my sister, who lives just outside of Boston. It was like two different worlds only a half hour outside of the city - 20 degrees warmer, beautiful scenery... and it reminded me very much of home. She has aΓΒ terrific place there in North Grafton, and I had a great lunch and a nice time with her and the kids.
I caught a flight at 5:45pm EST on Friday, and I was the first person on that plane. I have to admit, I was anxious to get home. While Boston was beautiful, it was very cold and very loud. The wind blew nonstop - it reminded me a lot of Chicago - and the traffic and horn blowing were a constant background noise.
I arrived in Nashville around 7:30pm CST, and it was so nice to be back in Tennessee! The air is warm, everything is in full bloom and beautiful... and even in downtown Nashville, the traffic is nothing like Boston. I finally got home a little after 11 o'clock, after a few necessary stops, and decided I was absolutely in love with Tennessee as I fell asleep in my own bed for the first time all week.

I'm glad to see you made it home alright and have settled back in. You and Chrissie are too cool for words...
And if I ever have the opportunity again, I plan to stay at the Hotel Commonwealth when I return to Boston.

It's good to get away for a vacation, business, to see friends again and schmooze with like minded people, but the best part of most trips is coming home.

Yeah π It's nice to be home, I have to say. The kids are both happy to be home too, and we are all settling back into our routine.
All said and done, the trip was great. The actual conference was really good and I am super glad that I went. I walked away from my first PubCon experience *knowing* I'd be attending again in November!

Boston can be a "difficult" place at times. It's even ALOT more different than here in Rhode Island. And we're only about 70 miles south. π
