As I mentioned last week, I have entered into a Marketing JV (a paid partnership) with Justin Brooke of Happily Unemployed.
I got access to the entire HU program, so I wanted to give you a sneak peek and a detailed review.
Given our partnership, I didn't use affiliate links in this post. But regardless of our relationship, you know me- I won't butter up the facts for any amount of money. I don't have to. 😉
Note: If you click here and look between "Phase One" and "Phase Two" you'll see an option to sign up to get a few lessons for free so you can get a hands-on look at Happily Unemployed yourself!
Buckle up. I'm going to give you the facts, my raw opinion, and a behind-the-scenes look into Happily Unemployed. And I have some super cool news to share with you too, so go ahead and mark your calendar for Tuesday August 6th at Noon Eastern, and keep reading...
Anytime you start a new course or program, the initial (natural) response is complete overwhelm. Fortunately, this is not the case with Happily Unemployed, as they've set it up specifically to make it easy on you.
When you first log in, you'll see a "Start Here" tab. I circled it in red for you in the screenshot above. You also receive a "getting started" email that outlines everything you need to know to make the most of the program. From the "Start Here" section you get an overview of how the course works and what to do, a download of the Course Outline, and a link to the first lesson so you can dive right in.
You get FULL access to the entire course - and the bonuses - immediately after you order. But knowing that is too much for some of us (raising hand! lol) they also send you a series of emails that help you move through the course strategically, without becoming overwhelmed. (Thank you!!) 😀
WOW @ The Support! Check This Out...
"In the past the people who succeeded most in our "challenge" were the ones who asked questions and leaned on the community for support and feedback. Below each lesson is a comments section. This is where you should post any questions you have. I'll receive a notification and go in and answer it. By asking your questions in the comments we can help everyone succeed."
The program also includes UNLIMITED Email Support.
At the bottom of the Start Here section you'll see: "We’re big on helping success driven people reach their goals. If you hit a sticking point, or just need some help - contact us." Followed by the contact info, of course. Nice! 😀
I really like the way this course is set up.
Each module is on it's own page and includes:
- Detailed Audio Training
- Printable Documents (workbooks/checklists)
- A "Message From Your Coach"
- Bulletpoint List of Top Takeaways
- Your Assignment
- What To Expect Next
- Support Q&A Section for Questions
* (Yes, you can download the MP3 and PDF files to listen/read on the go, or put on your mobile devices for convenience - or you can stream & view the content from the course page itself. The options are there! 😉 )
My Favorite "HU" Feature (Interactive / Mobile Access, Synced!)
My absolute favorite feature of the HU course area is the "Printable Documents" which includes a workbook and a checklist (both very detailed) for each module or lesson & assignment. You can print them off if you prefer, but I like the convenience of having them on ANY computer/device (including my iPad and Droid Razr), and automatically synced, so I copied the PDF's into Evernote.
This way I can edit them, add check-off boxes to the checklist, and keep them all organized in one place (along with my notes) while I work through the module.
I love, love, love the way the workbooks and checklists are set up! You have everything right at your fingertips, and they really help you "implement as you go" - which is key for getting the most out of any course. The way this is set up, plus using Evernote like I am, is the fastest way to see results with this training course.
(I simply highlighted the content of the PDF file, copied, then pasted it into a new Note in Evernote. That way I could edit, add notes, and add checkboxes. You can also drag the entire PDF file into Evernote, but it is "read-only" that way.)
"30 days from now you should have a market, website, product, and sales funnel. But I can't do it for you... You've got to finish the assignments. My wife and I can complete the system (and we have) in less than a week. Granted we have all day to work on it, but if you can give it 5-7 hours per week you should be able to finish it within 30 days no problem..." -Justin Brooke of Happily Unemployed
Happily Unemployed is set up as a 45 Day Course. The first phase is a 28-Day process (with 8 detailed modules) where you set up your website and put everything in place to start making sales online.
"You won't become overwhelmed with our bite-sized lessons. You can go at your own pace, finish it all in one week, or follow along with the 28 day system."
Day 14 (aka Lesson Five) is on "Rapid Product Creation" and Justin says:
You're going to learn how to create a profitable digital product in just 30 minutes, even if YOU are not an expert. In fact I prove it to you without a doubt inside this lesson, because this lesson was created in less than 30 minutes and used to sell as a standalone product.
Here's The Cool Thing...
I've given you a "look behind the curtain" at the member's area of Happily Unemployed, but what about the actual course content? That's the cool thing.
If you've been following my blog for any amount of time, you'll discover that Justin teaches very much like I do at Happily Unemployed. His mentality and methods are current, it's an outline for building an online business with integrity, and it's laid out step-by-step for you. I was VERY impressed with the actual course content.
* Interestingly, the audio lessons weren't working when I first tried to access them. I simply messaged Justin and he had that fixed in less than 24 hours. Now that's service! 😉
You won't just get thrown into a ton of content and left to figure it all out on your own. This course is set up in a way that walks you through each step, with detailed workbooks and checklists, emails to keep you on track with your lessons, and full support every step of the way. It is extremely well done.
What's even cooler is that even *I* learned some advanced things about targeted traffic generation. Justin is a master of paid traffic sources, so there's tons of good training on that topic inside the course. But he also includes methods for generating free traffic. In fact, one of the bonuses is his "Blog Contest Launch Formula" (for free traffic) and here's a screenshot to show you just how COOL this bonus is:
Yes ^ that's super cool stuff. 😀
As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, you can click here and look between "Phase One" and "Phase Two" - you'll see an option to sign up to get a few lessons for free so you can get a hands-on look at Happily Unemployed yourself...
Enjoy!
Best,
Another good one Lynn. Loved all the content especially roll up your sleeves line. That really made sense. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful piece with us.
hi Lynn,
I’m all up for programs that don’t overwhelm their members with a ton of stuff… some say that’s over-delivering, I say it’s just B.S…
Best programs are those that deliver small bits of information (so we chew it easily, and implement the action steps required), and it looks like Happily Unemployed is doing that, and more.
Building our business with integrity is more than essential, it is a standard in today’s hype-filled Economy where everybody runs after a quick buck.
I tell my affiliate students to build niche sites they’re proud of, and can show their kids about, so I admire Justin’s program.
Good luck with the promotion and let me know how it goes…
Thanks for the kind words John. Legacy is definitely much more important than revenue.
Hi Lynn, this is a great article and very informative too. Thanks for sharing with us......
Hi Lynn, I liked the way happiy Unemployed has distributed the entire learning process in small portions. It is very important to let people actually learn rather than piling the materials on their already burdened minds. Thanks for sharing the post with us.
This is one very helpful post Lynn. I surely learned a lot.
Hi Lynn,
I am a member of your Mastermind group as you know. Would this course help me further, or should I focus or the group for a while, and then consider it if I feel the need?
Thanks!
For you personally, I'd recommend you stick to our group for awhile and stay focused on your current objectives. I look forward to digging in and brainstorming with you, and working with you to get your sites up to max potential! 😀
Thanks Lynn,
I'll follow your recommendation, and am very excited about what I am doing (and will do) to develop my sites with your help 🙂
I subscribed to the Happily Unemployed list. I got several great emails. But this last one got me thinking. He says, in capital letters, that Affiliate Marketing is a TRAP. I understand the advantages of having your own products. But I believe being an affiliate can be a good source of income. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
P.
Great question & topic, Pedro! Obviously I make a good living in Affiliate Marketing, but I can see Justin's point. It's actually worth hashing out in a longer discussion than here. Justin DOES agree that it's a good source of passive revenue even for a product creator, on the backend, but his point is more on "passing off" your traffic to someone else when you could provide a solution to them yourself.
I should grab Justin for an "open discussion" on this topic. I bet it would make for a good one! 😉
I'm sure it would be a great discussion.
I get the argument of 'passing off' traffic and income to someone else. But I still think (at least hope) it's a good source of income. My plan is also to have my own product, but all in due time 🙂
